Judo in Guelph since 1974
Build strength.
Learn discipline.
Train safely.
Guelph's only Judo club. An Olympic martial art that builds confidence, character, and community. All ages, all levels, first week free.
Why Judo?
More than a martial art — a path to personal growth that benefits every area of life.
Practical self-defence
Judo teaches real self-defence — how to fall safely, control a situation without striking, and build the confidence to stand your ground. An Olympic sport since 1964, with skills that transfer to everyday life.
Safety-first training
Safety is built into Judo from day one. Breakfalls are the very first skill taught — a life skill that protects your child in Judo and beyond. Our instructors are certified and experienced with all ages.
Confidence & character
Judo builds discipline, resilience, and quiet confidence. Kids learn to set goals, handle setbacks, and carry themselves with respect — on the mat and off it.
Welcoming community
We're a nonprofit, member-run club — not a franchise. Families and individuals train together in a supportive environment built on Judo's founding principle: mutual welfare and benefit.
Programs for every age
From age 6 through adult, we have a program to fit your goals.
Children's Judo
Kids build confidence, discipline, and resilience through Judo. They'll learn throws, groundwork, safe falling, and practical self-defence — in a structured, supportive environment.

"For those who've never tried Judo, do yourself a favor and check out Kohbukan. They're a friendly and inviting club with a good mix of people. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced Judoka, you'll learn, develop new skills, and feel stronger both mentally and physically."— Lyle S.
"Although I started just a few weeks ago I have had a great experience so far! I have found it to be a very welcoming and positive environment. The instructors and students are very knowledgeable and go out of their way to help beginners."— Nathan M.
